PROJECT 2
Visual Research
Three artwork below are created by Tatsuya Tanaka. He creates inspiring and intricate everyday life scenes in a miniature world. A place where broccoli becomes a huge tree. Since 2011 Tatsuya has an ongoing project called Miniature Calendar. Miniature Calendar is a project where he portrays everyday life scenes depicted in diorama style.
Attempt #1
There are high-rise buildings and large mansions, ferris wheel and parachutes. I decided to edit these three in one photo.
I combine all the things in Photoshop. This is a town in microworld. The black bar of the card become the road of the town and staple pins became tall building. In this town also have a big ferris wheel!

Fig 3. Photographic 3
After viewing Tatsuya Tanaka photographic works, he inspired me to look
carefully the small objects in daily life and find the other side
of them. I decided to create a microview just like what he
did.
The photographic work above is really creative and vivid. This artwork turns the
wallet into a stall for selling newspapers, and then the middle
compartment becomes a shelf for placing magazines and newspapers,
which is very creative.
Fig 2. Photographic 2
The author uses our daily necessities-nail clipper, and imagine
it to an escalator, and then pedestrians in the photo are taking
the escalator, which is more real and vivid.
Fig 3. Photographic 3
The author takes food as the theme, regards it as a
merry-go-round, and then adds tiny people. Although the photo is
simple, it strongly emphasises his design.
Idea Exploration

Fig 6. Final Outcome of photographic work #1
I combine all the things in Photoshop. This is a town in microworld. The black bar of the card become the road of the town and staple pins became tall building. In this town also have a big ferris wheel!
Application of design principle :
Harmony- The whole work is harmonious, and there is nothing particularly abrupt.
Attempt #2
Fig 7. Material I used for photographic work #2
Fig 8. Three version of light sources & angles
I tried three type of light source, the first one is natural light, second one is to turn on the flash light of handphone, the third one is turn on the flash light at some distance under normal light. Th left and right pictures are in parallel view, the picture in the middle is overlooking the boat.
Fig 9. photo I choose for further editing
After that I added the whales which is made of mouse. There also have
ripple there to make it look more vivid. I also edited tail(picture
form google https://www.52112.com/pic/366936.html) for the whales. I also added my photo in this photographic work.
It's like I was i the scene and rolling the boat to escape from the
huge surge.
Application of design principle :
Contrast- There is colour contrast between the sea and the character & whale. Furthermore, It also have contrast between the size of surge and character.
Consistency- The eyes of character and whale all point to the wave.
Emphasis- From the smallness of people, it is emphasise the greatness of this surge.

FEEDBACK
General Feedback : analysis the space, consider everything, what
you feel of the place. Idea come from authentic there.
REFLECTION
Through this project, I learned to inspired myself in a new way. In my
daily life, I tend to ignore the things I am used to, and I never
thought they were potential stocks with the potential to be transformed.
While working on this project, I found that I need to bend over and keep
a parallel line of sight with these "gadgets" than I can discover their
world. From different perspectives, I found that they can also be
magnificent and special.
