Unity
- refer to the repetition of particular elements throughout design
- whether they're colours, shapes or materials - to pull the look
together
-
a sense of oneness, creating a theme
scale and proportion
- both design elements that have to do with size
- scale is
the size of one object in relation to the other objects in a design
or artwork
-proportion refers to the size of the parts of an
object in relationship to other parts of the same object

Symbol, Word & Image
Symbol
- pictorial symbol
: image-related and simplified pictures
- abstract symbol
: can look like the object that they represent but have less
details
- arbitrary symbol : have no resemblance at all to the objects or the ideas they
represent. The symbol is invented with the meaning constructed and many
are based on geometric shapes and colours.

Task 1 : Harmony
Visual Research :
In my stereotype, harmony is in light tone which make people feel
gentle and peace. But after the pre-lecture,I found that harmony
was not limited in one way. Harmony also can be show in colourful
artwork by following the rules of harmony.
Whenever drawing physically, I think directly of drawing on paper.
So this time I try to break the rule to draw on different surface. I
walked around my house and looking for something I can play on it.
Finally in the corner of recycling items, I saw the paper tube
holding up high there, shouting "choose me! choose me!".
The following is an extremely short clip of my outcome review. If
you have some time, you might as well stop over and have a look on
the clip below.

Task 2 : Symbol

Idea Exploration :
During this pandemic, all of us are staying home for a long long
time. For me, collage study at home inevitably feel stressed and
helpless. My parents will enlighten me and told me not to be too stressed.
Under the severe epidemic, it is also not easy for my dad and also
other workers who still need to work physically.
Furthermore, through the news I noticed that too many people have lost their loved during this
pandemic.
So I decided to make a symbol which is a happy family and wish all
families always living together happily. I used my family as
prototype to design this symbol.

Feedback
General Feedback : Don't take it for granted, everything has a
meaning to exist. Try to figure out unusual idea. Don't only
demonstrate it ,have to prove it and make it significant.
Specific Feedback : The artwork of harmony is relevant to the topic and it apply harmony by building up a strong relationship with other elements around it and harmonising the use of other elements.
Reflection
Generally we are too focused and anxious to achieve certain goals. When I
am not satisfied with my idea or outcome, I will feel nervous and panic. I
think sometime we need to stop for a moment and looking what are we having
now. It inspired me to start my design from my life and things around
me.

Very good point of reflection and that is so important for everyone including myself. It is always very easy to miss out the details we often take for granted and that plays very well into the theme and concept of your final work!
