INSTRUCTION
Project 1 : Instructable Infographic Poster
We need to choose one of the designated Youtube channel Pasta Grannies, a channel where grandparents cook their speciality dishes. We have to make an instructable poster according to the recipes and steps in the film.
Requirements
Poster size: 1240 × 1750 pixels or 2048 × 2048 pixels
After watching almost a dozen films, I would like to choose Grandma Isabella who lives in the beautiful village of Moena. In this video, she is going to make cheesy bread dumplings called canerdeli!
Video 1. Pasta Grannies / Isabella
I finally chose this one because I am a cheese lover, and this grandmother makes me feel very kind. Her living environment and home design make me feel very comfortable.
For the sketch part, I drafted four different layouts and styles. The main purpose of my design when sketching these is to have the unity of the whole poster and show the coherence of the whole production process. Besides, I also try to make some innovations on the basis of the above mentioned, so as to enrich the poster I designed.
Sketch 1
Fig 4. Sketch 1
The first sketch mainly presents dynamic and display the process above and show the final product below with dynamic and movement. This main attempt is to make lifeless food vividly displayed. It's like one of the scenes of a falling dumpling being photographed.
In second sketch, I take Isabella's dog OTA in the film as the protagonist (the image of the chef), and then a group of small chefs are cooking delicious dumpling. The main idea is to break through the conventional recipe information poster and make it more lovely and interesting. This idea mainly originated from a small film on the Internet.
Sketch 3
Fig 7. Sketch 3
The third draft is an extension of the first sketch, and it also hopes to bring more dynamic and vitality. The connection of each step of this sketch and the presentation of the finished product have a stronger sense of coherence and picture for me. This typesetting is more neat and simplified. Compared with the first draft, I think this one can convey the information to the audience more clearly and directly, and this one will also lead the line of sight to see from top to bottom with the poster design.
Sketch 4

Finally, I choose the third sketch to continue with my project. For me, its typesetting is more pleasing to the eye and has better visual guidance for the audience.
Drawing...
Initially,I draw the poster in Pinterest and after that brought to Photoshop as well as make some position adjustment and adding simple icons and descriptions.
Final Outcome
Project 2 : Animated Infographic
Requirements
Use the assets from Project 1 Instructable Infographic poster into a 60 secs motion graphic.
Max 60 secs infographic video 720p: 1280x720 pixels /1920x1080 pixels (H26/mp4) published on YouTube (set to Unlisted)

Video 3. Reference
This is the first version I tried, and I used one of the scenes to make it. But I think this faster rhythm is a little contrary to my painting style. Then I tried another style, slow and gentle animation.

Feedback
Week 5 : Good job on the design, try to think about the execution of animation for project 2.
Reflection
To tell the truth, it took about four days to design this poster, which was a bit anxious and took the longest time in the sketch stage. At first, I found various kinds of information and other people's works on the Internet, and all kinds of ways and ideas made me wonder how to do it. In the initial sketch stage, it is also difficult to find a perfect balance between reference works and own style. I feel that there are many styles that can be tried and combined, but some combinations are not as good as I thought after sketching out. Instead, too many elements feel chaotic and disorderly. I think this is also one of the difficulties in design.
